A hydrostatic weighing tank should be located in a “wet room” with a non-skid floor (pool tile) as well as tiled walls to accommodate water splashing. A floor sink should be located near the water tank for emptying the water and in case of overflow during filling. Plumbing, fixtures and electrical power must be provided (by others) per local regulations.
Shower facilities should be available adjacent to the wet room so that subjects can shower and enter into, or exit from, the water tank.
Water tanks designed by EXERTECH for hydrostatic weighing are constructed of 316 L stainless steel with water circulation and heating equipment mounted on one wall of the tank for easy access. Plumbing and electrical connections are required on site (by others).
In addition to the “standard sized” (small, shallow) hydrostatic weighing tank, any size of water tank may be designed to customer specifications. Deeper tanks require a pool ladder and top deck for entry to, and exit from, the tank. Large tanks that rest on the floor of an existing facility will require steps and a high ceiling as well as access through doorways.
Electronic weighing systems typically use either 2 or 4 load cells (force transducers).
EXERTECH computerized weighing systems are powered by rechargeable lithium power banks that provide 100 hours of weighing between charges. Information is transmitted to a computer by wireless.
An underwater weighing platform is suspended from an aluminum weighing framework which rests on a flat-topped water tank. The platform detaches from the weighing framework for easy removal from the tank. The submerged platform may be large for weighing immersed persons with their feet on the platform (shallow tank) or small for seated immersion with the feet below the seat (for deeper tanks). An insulated vinyl cover is included with all tanks.
EXERTECH also designs and builds custom hydrostatic weighing systems to retro-fit existing water tanks and spas.
